2012 Ford Focus Fuse Box Diagram: All 3 Panels, Full Charts
Your 2012 Ford Focus has three fuse boxes. The passenger compartment panel is below the glove box, fuses 56 through 89. The power distribution box is under the hood, fuses 7 through 48. A third box sits in the trunk, fuses 2 through 37, and most sites skip it.
The cigar lighter and rear 12V power point share fuse 61, rated 20A. It stays 20A across the whole 2012-2018 generation. Not every fuse on this car does.

Where are the fuse boxes on a 2012 Ford Focus?
Recommended Best Deal Products
Passenger compartment fuse panel. Passenger side, below the glove box, behind a removable trim cover. Open the glove box, release the stops, and the panel sits directly above your right foot.
Power distribution box. Engine bay, driver side, next to the battery, under a black plastic cover. The fuse map is printed on the underside of that cover.
Luggage compartment fuse box. Left side of the trunk, behind the plastic side trim panel. This is the box a generic “2 fuse box” listicle leaves out, and it carries the audio amplifier and both heated seat fuses.

Does a 2012 Focus share fuses with other Mk3 Focus years, 2011-2018?
Mostly, but not completely. Your car is the third-generation Focus, chassis code C346, sold in North America from 2012 through 2018. Ford facelifted it for the 2014 model year.
Most published charts for this car do not say that. I checked fusecheck.com, one of the few sources that actually splits its Mk3 table by year instead of printing one “2010 to 2018” chart. It confirms two circuits change at the facelift.
Fuse 74 protects the low beam headlamps on your 2012 car, rated 15A. On a 2014-2018 Focus after the facelift, Ford reassigns fuse 74 to the high beams instead. Same fuse, same amperage, a different circuit.
Fuse 71 runs the manual air conditioning control head and dual-zone automatic climate control on your 2012 car at 10A. From 2014 on, it drops to 7.5A and covers air conditioning only.
I also checked autogenius.info, which publishes a Focus “2011-2015” chart. Its fuse numbering does not match startmycar.com, car-box.info or fusecheck.com at all, different numbers, different circuits entirely. Treat that page as evidence the data is contested, not as a source.

Which fuse is the cigar lighter on a 2012 Ford Focus?
Recommended Best Deal Products
Fuse 61 in the passenger compartment panel, rated 20A. It also feeds the rear 12V power point, so a dead front outlet and a dead rear outlet usually share one cause.
This is the number a generic combined “Mk3” chart gets right, because fuse 61 never moves across the whole 2011-2018 generation. The two that trip owners up are fuse 74 and fuse 71, covered above.
Three independent sources agree on fuse 61 at 20A for your 2012 car: startmycar.com, which cites the 2012 Focus owner’s manual directly, car-box.info, and fusecheck.com.

How do you tell if a fuse is actually blown?
A blown fuse shows a broken metal strip inside the clear plastic body. Pull the fuse and hold it up to a light to check.

Never guess the replacement rating. Match the number on the old fuse against your box cover label. A higher rated fuse lets the wiring become the fuse instead, and that failure costs far more to fix.
Why does the same fuse keep blowing?
A fuse that blows once is usually a one-off surge. One that blows again within days is telling you something is wrong upstream, not asking for a bigger fuse.
Unplug whatever you most recently added. A phone charger left in the power point is a common repeat offender. So is an aftermarket amplifier wired into fuse 23.
Check for chafed insulation where the harness flexes, especially near the door hinges and the liftgate.
If a fuse blows the instant you push it in, that circuit has a hard short. Stop replacing fuses and trace the wiring with a proper diagnostic tool instead of guessing. A plastic fuse puller keeps you from cracking the panel housing while you work through the circuit.
Does this chart apply to other Focus years or an older Focus?
It applies to any 2012-2018 US-market Focus on fuses 61, 56, and the whole power distribution and luggage boxes. For fuses 71, 73, 74 and 87, confirm your year against the facelift table above.
If you have an older Focus, this chart does not apply at all. Ford replaced the entire electrical architecture for the third-generation car. A 2008-2011 North American Focus uses a Central Junction Box and Battery Junction Box layout with its own separate numbering. See our 2010 Ford Focus fuse box diagram for that generation.
An even older Focus, built through 2007, carries a different layout again. See our 2007 Ford Focus fuse box diagram for that car.
None of the fuse numbers on this page carry across to either of those older cars. Treat each generation as its own chart.
2012 Ford Focus fuse quick reference
The fuses owners look up most, in one place.
| What you want | Fuse | Amps | Box |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cigar lighter, rear 12V power point | 61 | 20A | Passenger panel |
| Fuel pump | 56 | 20A | Passenger panel |
| Low beam headlamps (2012-2013 only) | 74 | 15A | Passenger panel |
| Starter relay | 13 | 30A | Power distribution box |
| Heater blower motor | 10 | 40A | Power distribution box |
| A/C compressor clutch | 27 | 15A | Power distribution box |
| Rear window defroster | 9 | 30A | Power distribution box |
| Audio amplifier | 23 | 25A | Luggage box |
| Heated driver seat, heated passenger seat | 34, 35 | 15A each | Luggage box |
| Restraints control module, airbags | 86 | 10A | Passenger panel |
Not sure your car matches this exactly? Your box cover label is the final authority. That matters most on fuses 71 and 74, the two positions the 2014 facelift changed.
Sunroof, heated seats, and the audio amplifier are options that add fuses this guide covers. A base trim 2012 Focus may not use all of them.
