2011 Ford Fusion Fuse Box Diagram: Both Locations, Every Fuse

Your 2011 Ford Fusion has two fuse boxes. The passenger compartment panel sits below and to the left of the steering wheel, by the brake pedal. The power distribution box is under the hood, next to the battery. The console power point fuse is 22. The front power point fuse is 29. Both are 20A, both in the engine bay box.

Where are the fuse boxes on a 2011 Fusion?

Passenger compartment fuse panel (Smart Junction Box). Driver side, below and to the left of the steering wheel, next to the brake pedal, behind a pull-off cover. This panel carries 47 fuse positions plus one delayed accessory relay.

Power distribution box (Battery Junction Box). Engine compartment, mounted beside the battery. This is the larger box: 58 total positions across cartridge fuses, mini fuses, diodes and relays.

The 2011 Fusion Hybrid uses a different engine compartment box, built around the high-voltage battery module plus an auxiliary relay box in front of the radiator. Ford’s own hybrid fuse chart also lists fuse 4 as a 30A feed for the 110V AC power outlet, a circuit the gas model does not have. This chart covers the gas 2.5L, 3.0L V6 and 3.5L V6 Fusion. If your VIN decodes as a Hybrid, treat the numbers below as a starting point only. Check your own box cover to confirm.

The engine bay box did not change between 2011 and 2012. Every difference this generation carries between those two years lives in the interior panel.

What changed between the 2011 and 2012 Fusion, position by position

This is the number a generic fuse chart site will not have. Most of them publish one table for 2010 to 2012 and never check it against a single model year.

If your 2011 Fusion has a factory subwoofer, fuse 38 in the interior panel is the one to check. Do not confuse it with the engine bay box’s own fuse 38. That is a separate 10A position, and it runs the heated side mirrors on both years.

Fuse 19 (25A, amplifier) and fuse 39 (20A, radio) also touch the audio system. Neither one is affected by the year change.

Why do combined-year charts get 2011 wrong?

Auto Genius publishes one table for the 2010 to 2012 Fusion instead of three separate ones. On fuse 43, that table lists “Rain Sensor.” That is correct for 2012, but wrong for 2011, where the position sits unused.

On fuse 38, the same Auto Genius table lists “Subwoofer amplifier” for all three years. That is correct for 2011, but wrong for 2012, where Ford moved the circuit off that position entirely. A reader with a 2011 Fusion who trusts the fuse 43 entry will pull a spare position. The rain sensor circuit they are looking for is not there.

fuse-box.info avoids this by publishing 2011 and 2012 as two separate tables on the same page. Of the four aggregators checked, it is the only one that shows the real year-to-year change instead of collapsing it into one row.

Which fuse is the cigar lighter and 12V power point?

There is no cigar lighter fuse in the cab panel on this generation. Ford’s own 2011 owner’s manual calls these accessory outlets “auxiliary power points,” not cigarette lighters. Both live in the engine bay box. Fuse 22, 20A, covers the console power point. Fuse 29, 20A, covers the front power point. If you searched for a cab-panel cigar lighter fuse and could not find one, that is why. Pop the hood instead of pulling the interior cover.

Which fuse controls the radio?

Three interior fuses and one relay touch the audio system, and which one is out tells you what to expect.

  • Fuse 39, 20A: radio. Main head unit feed. Lose this and the screen and radio go dark together.
  • Fuse 19, 25A: amplifier. Sound cuts out or distorts with the screen still working.
  • Fuse 13, 5A: SYNC module. Voice control and Bluetooth die, radio and amplifier keep working.
  • Fuse 38, interior, 20A: subwoofer amplifier. A dead subwoofer with the main speakers still working points here first on a 2011. This position is unique to 2011 and 2010 on this generation. It disappears from the chart in 2012.

The blower motor fuse is a 40A engine bay fuse, working through relay 52. It is not a mini fuse in the cab. If the fan runs on high only, the fuse and relay are fine. The blower motor resistor is the next thing to check.

Which fuse stops the Fusion from starting?

Four positions cover most no-start complaints on this generation.

  1. Fuse 5, engine bay, 30A. Starter motor, through relay 55. No crank at all starts here.
  2. Fuse 3, engine bay, 40A. PCM power, through relay 57. Cranks but will not fire.
  3. Fuse 27, interior, 20A. Ignition switch. A dead cluster and no crank together points here before the starter itself.
  4. Fuse 30, engine bay, 30A. Fuel relay. Cranks, sounds normal, will not start, check this alongside fuse 3.

Cranks but will not start points at fuel and PCM power, fuses 3 and 30. No crank at all points at the starter and ignition switch circuits, fuses 5 and 27.

How do you tell if a fuse is actually blown?

Pull it and hold it to a light. An intact fuse shows an unbroken metal strip. A blown one shows a visible gap or a smoked, discolored window.

  1. A hairline crack can look fine at a glance. If unsure, test continuity with a multimeter set to ohms. Near zero ohms means the fuse is good.
  2. Match the amperage, never upgrade it. The engine bay cartridge fuses are a different physical size than the mini fuses. A mixed ATO/ATC fuse assortment kit with a puller covers the mini side. Cartridge fuses are less commonly stocked. Check your box cover before you buy.
  3. Relays fail without ever blowing. Positions 41, 43, 52, 53, 54, 55 and 57 are relays, not fuses. A dead circuit at one of these positions can mean a failed relay with the fuse still perfectly good.

Why does the same fuse keep blowing?

A fuse that blows once is usually a surge. One that blows again within a day or two means the fault is upstream. Replacing it on repeat just delays the real fix.

  1. Unplug anything added recently. A phone charger, a dash cam or an aftermarket amplifier on the wrong circuit accounts for most repeat blows here.
  2. Check the console and front power points first. Fuses 22 and 29 see the heaviest aftermarket load, from inverters to chargers left plugged in.
  3. Look for chafed wiring near the doors and steering column. The harness flexes every time the car is driven.
  4. Rule out a stuck relay. A relay that welded closed pulls current continuously, taking its fuse with it, even with nothing extra plugged in.
