Ford Focus Paint Code Chart By Year: 2000-2018 Colors, Codes & Location

The Ford Focus paint code chart below lists documented factory exterior colors and their codes for US-market Focus model years 2000 through 2018. Start with your model year, then find the short code printed on the driver’s door-jamb certification label. For example, YZ identifies the familiar white finish on many Focus models, while UX identifies Ingot Silver on several later years.

Color names changed over time, and ST, RS, and overseas models have different selections. Confirm the candidate code against your car’s label before ordering paint.

Outside the US? Check local Ford paint records; European and Australian Focus codes may differ.

How to Read Ford Focus Paint Codes by Year

Recommended Best Deal Products

Each listing pairs a factory color name with a short exterior paint code. The code is shown first in bold, followed by the color name. ST and RS in parentheses identify colors associated with those performance models in the referenced US catalog; an unmarked entry is not a promise that every trim offered the color.

For example, 2018: EA Hot Pepper Red means the US 2018 Focus color catalog associates code EA with Hot Pepper Red. It does not mean a red car from a different year automatically uses EA. For a broader explanation of Ford’s naming conventions, see our Ford paint code chart and color list.

The tables compile year-specific US catalog entries, not guaranteed trim availability. Verify against the certification label. Codes were checked against the Ford Focus year-by-year paint reference and other paint catalogs.

2000 to 2007 Paint Colors

The earliest US Focus models used names such as Cloud 9 White, Pitch Black, CD Silver, and Infra-Red. Several codes carried over, although color availability changed by year.

Model YearFactory Color Names and Paint Codes
2000B2 Fort Knox Gold; BG Autumn Orange; E4 Infra-Red; FL Sangria Red; K6 Atlantic Blue; K7 Malibu Blue; LV Light Sapphire Blue; MK Twilight Blue; SU Rainforest Green; TS CD Silver; UA Pitch Black; YZ Cloud 9 White
2001B2 Fort Knox Gold; B7 Egg Yolk Yellow; C6 Jackpot Gold; E4 Infra-Red; FL Sangria Red; K7 Malibu Blue; LV Light Sapphire Blue; MK Twilight Blue; SU Rainforest Green; TS CD Silver; UA Pitch Black; YZ Cloud 9 White
2002B2 Fort Knox Gold; B7 Egg Yolk Yellow; CX Liquid Grey; E4 Infra-Red; FL Sangria Red; F5 Grabber Green; K7 Malibu Blue; MK Twilight Blue; TS CD Silver; UA Pitch Black; YZ Cloud 9 White
2003AQ Arizona Beige; B7 Egg Yolk Yellow; CX Liquid Grey; DV Light Tundra; E4 Infra-Red; FL Sangria Red; F5 Grabber Green; MK Twilight Blue; M9 French Blue; TS CD Silver; UA Pitch Black; YZ Cloud 9 White
2004AQ Arizona Beige; B7 Egg Yolk Yellow; CX Liquid Grey; CY Competition Orange; DV Light Tundra; D6 Screaming Yellow; E4 Infra-Red; FL Sangria Red; MK Twilight Blue; M9 French Blue; SN Sonic Blue; TS CD Silver; UA Pitch Black; YZ Cloud 9 White
2005AQ Arizona Beige; B7 Egg Yolk Yellow; CX Liquid Grey; DV Light Tundra; E4 Infra-Red; FL Sangria Red; GW Blazing Copper; M9 French Blue; SN Sonic Blue; TS CD Silver; UA Pitch Black; YZ Cloud 9 White
2006CX Liquid Grey; DV Light Tundra; D6 Screaming Yellow; E4 Infra-Red; G3 Pueblo Gold; JL Dark Toreador Red; SN Sonic Blue; TS CD Silver; UA Pitch Black; YZ Cloud 9 White
2007CX Liquid Grey; D6 Screaming Yellow; E4 Infra-Red; G3 Pueblo Gold; JL Dark Toreador Red; NZ Kiwi Green; TH Aqua Blue; TS CD Silver; UA Pitch Black; YZ Cloud 9 White

For these years, E4 appears as Infra-Red and YZ as Cloud 9 White. The names in later catalogs may change even where the displayed two-character code remains the same. Always match both the year and the actual door label before selecting a paint formula.

2008 to 2011 Paint Colors

During this period, TS is listed as Silver Frost rather than CD Silver, UA as Black rather than Pitch Black, and YZ as Oxford White rather than Cloud 9 White. A shared name does not justify substituting a different paint formula.

Model YearFactory Color Names and Paint Codes
2008E4 Vermillion Red; G9 Vista Blue; LS Light Ice Blue; NZ Kiwi Green; TS Silver Frost; UA Black; YZ Oxford White; ZY Vapor Silver
2009FL Sangria Red; GQ Amber Gold; G9 Vista Blue; LS Light Ice Blue; UA Black; UI Brilliant Silver; UJ Sterling Gray; WS White Suede
2010FL Sangria Red; SZ Blue Flame; UA Black; UJ Sterling Gray; UR Natural Neutral; UX Ingot Silver; WS White Suede
2011FL Sangria Red; SZ Blue Flame; UA Black; UJ Sterling Gray; UR Natural Neutral; UX Ingot Silver; WS White Suede

The 2010 and 2011 catalog entries include Ingot Silver UX, Blue Flame SZ, and Sterling Gray UJ. A 2009 silver Focus, however, may carry UI for Brilliant Silver instead of UX. Checking the label resolves that difference.

2012 to 2018 Paint Colors

The redesigned US Focus added new colors and premium finishes. ST and RS entries do not imply availability on ordinary trims.

Model YearFactory Color Names and Paint Codes
2012L6 Kona Blue; NQ Yellow Blaze; PQ Race Red; P9 Frosted Glass; UG White Platinum; UH Tuxedo Black; UJ Sterling Gray; UX Ingot Silver; U6 Red Candy; YZ Oxford White; Z9 Blue Candy
2013LP Tangerine Scream (ST); L1 Performance Blue; PQ Race Red; RR Ruby Red; UG White Platinum; UH Tuxedo Black; UJ Sterling Gray; UX Ingot Silver; YZ Oxford White; Z9 Blue Candy
2014LP Tangerine Scream (ST); L1 Performance Blue; PQ Race Red; RR Ruby Red; UG White Platinum; UH Tuxedo Black; UJ Sterling Gray; UX Ingot Silver; YZ Oxford White; Z9 Blue Candy
2015HI Tectonic; J7 Magnetic; LP Tangerine Scream (ST); L1 Performance Blue; PQ Race Red; RR Ruby Red; UG White Platinum; UH Tuxedo Black; UX Ingot Silver; YZ Oxford White; Z9 Blue Candy
2016B9 Stealth Gray (RS); DW Nitrous Blue (RS); G1 Shadow Black; HI Tectonic; J7 Magnetic; LP Tangerine Scream (ST); L6 Kona Blue; PQ Race Red; RR Ruby Red; UG White Platinum; UX Ingot Silver; YZ Oxford White; Z2 Frozen White (RS); Z9 Blue Candy
2017B9 Stealth Gray; DW Nitrous Blue (RS); GN White Gold; G1 Shadow Black; H3 Triple Yellow (ST); J7 Magnetic; L6 Kona Blue; PQ Race Red; RR Ruby Red; UG White Platinum; UX Ingot Silver; YZ Oxford White; Z2 Frozen White (RS); Z9 Blue Candy
2018B8 Outrageous Green; DW Nitrous Blue (RS); EA Hot Pepper Red; FT Blue; GN White Gold; G1 Shadow Black; H3 Triple Yellow (ST); J7 Magnetic; N6 Lightning Blue; PQ Race Red (RS); UG White Platinum; UX Ingot Silver; YZ Oxford White

A catalog discrepancy affects 2012 Oxford White: some paint data uses Z1 while the chart reference uses YZ. These codes should not be treated as interchangeable without checking the car’s label or dealer records.

Ford calls 2018 B8 Outrageous Green, although some catalogs say “Outrageously Green.” Code FT is simply “Blue” in Ford’s brochure but may have a longer supplier name. Order by the label code, not the marketing name.

Which Ford Focus ST and RS Colors Are Unique

Recommended Best Deal Products

Performance trims need a closer check than the standard Focus chart because their factory color options differ by year and package.

Focus ST Factory Colors

Tangerine Scream LP appears in US Focus ST listings for 2013 through 2016. Triple Yellow H3 is listed for ST in 2017 and 2018. Ford’s 2018 color chart also offers ST colors such as Oxford White, Magnetic, Shadow Black, Hot Pepper Red, and Blue, depending on equipment. Trim alone cannot establish a code.

Focus RS Factory Colors

The US catalog identifies Nitrous Blue DW for Focus RS in 2016 through 2018. Earlier RS color options include Stealth Gray B9 and Frozen White Z2. Ford’s 2018 limited-edition RS brochure instead identifies Race Red and Nitrous Blue, alongside Shadow Black, as that year’s RS choices.

Trim Availability Exceptions

Ford’s 2018 Focus factory brochure identifies Nitrous Blue Metallic Quad-coat and Race Red for the RS, and Triple Yellow Tri-coat for the ST. The chart above supplies the corresponding paint-code references; the brochure separately confirms trim eligibility. Both checks matter before ordering.

Where to Find Your Ford Focus Paint Code

On a US-market Focus, start at the driver’s door jamb or door-edge certification label. Many Ford labels identify the exterior color under EXT PNT. Do not mistake a nearby trim, axle, or wheelbase field for the paint code.

  1. Open the driver’s door and inspect the label on the door edge or body pillar.
  2. Find EXT PNT or the exterior paint entry, then copy its characters exactly.
  3. Compare that code with your model year’s table and confirm the listed color with a paint supplier.

Our Ford touch-up paint code location guide shows how to distinguish the paint field from other label information. In its later Focus owner’s manual, Ford also instructs owners to check the door-jamb color sticker and present the code to an authorized dealer. Label layouts can vary between markets and generations.

Why European and Australian Focus Paint Codes Differ

This chart is for US-market Focus listings from 2000 to 2018. It is not a universal list for all Focus cars sold worldwide. Overseas models can have different production years, paint names, code formats, and performance-trim selections.

For example, Ford Australia’s official Focus paint-code resource includes selected model-year charts through 2022, including Focus ST variants. Do not mix these entries with US data.

If your Focus was sold in Europe, the UK, or Australia, identify its original market first. Check the local-market owner’s manual and door label, then ask a Ford dealer or paint specialist to verify the regional code where needed. Similar color names do not establish interchangeable formulas.

How to Verify Your Focus Paint Code Before Buying

Before ordering, verify the label, finish, and repair history.

  1. Match model year and market. Find your year in the US table only if the car is a US-market Focus. Confirm ST or RS status where applicable.
  2. Confirm the label code. Copy the factory exterior code exactly. If a supplier lists an additional mixing reference, ask them to map it to that original code instead of assuming the numbers are interchangeable.
  3. Check the finish and the car’s history. Tell the supplier whether you are repairing a solid, metallic, tri-coat, or quad-coat color. On a previously repainted car, a factory code may not describe the paint currently on the panel.

For a visible repair, test a small sample according to the paint manufacturer’s instructions before committing to a large area. Paint age, preparation, application technique, and clearcoat can all affect the finished match.

What to Do When Your Focus Paint Label Is Missing

An unreadable certification label does not require guessing a color from online photographs. Record the VIN, model year, market, and trim, then ask a Ford parts department or professional paint supplier whether factory build records are available for that specific car.

The VIN is a vehicle identifier, not a paint formula encoded directly in its 17 characters. Our guide to finding a Ford color code using the VIN explains how a lookup can support verification. If a panel has been repainted, a body shop may need to identify the existing finish using a color camera, spray-out sample, or both.

How to Match Your Focus Color Finish Correctly

The right code is necessary, but the finish matters too. Standard solid colors are generally simpler to repair than metallic or multi-stage finishes. Metallic paints depend on the orientation of their effect pigments, while some premium finishes use additional color or effect layers.

Ford calls White Platinum a Metallic Tri-coat, Triple Yellow a Tri-coat, Nitrous Blue a Metallic Quad-coat, and Hot Pepper Red a Metallic Tinted Clearcoat in its 2018 Focus brochure. Do not assume a single ordinary basecoat will reproduce these finishes.

Even properly coded paint may look different on an older panel because of weathering or previous repairs. A professional supplier can help with a spray-out comparison and any adjustment needed for the actual car.

How to Confirm the Right Ford Focus Paint Code

The Ford Focus paint code chart is most useful when it narrows your search to the factory colors offered for your model year. Begin with the year, locate the exterior color code on the car, and check that its name and finish are consistent with the table. For a Focus ST or RS, confirm the performance-model options rather than using standard-trim assumptions.

Use the driver’s door label as your first physical reference. If the sticker is missing or a supplier gives a conflicting formula, ask a Ford dealer or paint specialist to verify the original code before ordering. That extra check is more reliable than choosing paint by a screen color or a familiar marketing name.

Ford Focus Paint Code Questions Answered

Where Is the Paint Code on a Ford Focus?

On most US-market Focus cars, check the certification label on the driver’s door jamb or door edge. Look for EXT PNT or the exterior paint field and copy the code exactly. An international-market car may use a different sticker layout.

Can I Find My Ford Focus Paint Code by VIN?

The VIN does not contain the paint formula as a directly readable character sequence. A Ford dealer may be able to retrieve factory color details using vehicle records associated with the VIN. Compare that result with the original door label where possible.

What Is the Paint Code for a White Ford Focus?

It depends on the year, market, and exact white finish. US Focus listings show YZ for Cloud 9 White in many early years and Oxford White in many later years, while premium White Platinum uses UG in the 2012–2018 chart. Confirm the door label before purchasing.

Do Ford Focus ST and RS Models Have Different Paint Codes?

They can have trim-specific factory colors. Examples include Tangerine Scream LP and Triple Yellow H3 on certain ST model years, and Nitrous Blue DW on the RS. Other colors are shared with the wider Focus range, so check the exact year and option package.

Are European Ford Focus Paint Codes the Same as US Codes?

Not necessarily. Different markets have their own model-year ranges, paint catalogs, and sometimes label conventions. Use the US chart only for US-market applications; owners of European or Australian cars should confirm codes against local Ford documentation and their own certification label.
