Ford filed recall 24S78 on December 20, 2024. The recall covers 295,449 trucks, and about 4 percent are suspected of having the condition.
Ford’s teardowns of returned pumps showed aged biodiesel deposits. Its data linked failures to state-level biomass diesel specifications and warmer average temperatures.
The original defect can cause extended cranking without starting, or a loss of power while driving. The fix is a free PCM software update at a dealer.
Software Recall 26S17
Some trucks never received that fix. Ford announced recall 26S17 in March 2026 for 7,105 trucks.
