2003 Ford Expedition Fuse Box Diagram: Full Charts by Panel
Your 2003 Ford Expedition has two fuse boxes. The passenger compartment panel is under the right side of the instrument panel, fuses 1 through 42. The power distribution box is under the hood, fuses 101 through 118 plus fuse 401.
The cigarette lighter is fuse 41, rated 20A. It also feeds the OBD II connector.

Where are the fuse boxes on a 2003 Ford Expedition?

Passenger compartment fuse panel. Under the right side of the instrument panel. Place a finger behind the PULL tab on the cover and pull it toward you. Swing the panel away to reach the fuses behind it.
Power distribution box. Under the hood, in the engine compartment. It carries the high current circuits. That means the starter relay, the ABS pump, the front blower motor and the air suspension compressor.
Worth knowing: none of my three sources state which side of the engine bay the box sits on. Your box cover label is the final authority here, and on any fuse this chart does not match.

Does a 2003 Expedition use the same fuses as a 2004 to 2006 Expedition?
No, not on every position. This is the same generation, body style U222, built 2003 through 2006 before Ford redesigned the Expedition again for 2007. I expected one shared table. Ford renumbered eight circuits inside that single generation instead.
Most published charts for this truck do not say that. I checked two of the largest, fuseandrelay.com and autogenius.info. Both publish one table under a page titled “2003 to 2006.” Both match the 2005 to 2006 values, not your 2003 truck.
A 2003 owner who trusts either chart gets the wrong amperage on four positions. Three more positions show the wrong circuit entirely.
| Fuse | 2003 | 2004 | 2005 to 2006 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 10A: wipers, cluster, TPMS | 10A: wipers, cluster, TPMS | 7.5A: wipers, cluster. TPMS dropped from this fuse |
| 4 | 10A: DVD player, rear audio, CD changer | 15A: DVD player, rear audio, navigation radio | 15A: same as 2004 |
| 7 | 7.5A: radio | 7.5A: radio start signal | 5A: radio start signal |
| 9 | 10A: alternator | Not used | Not used |
| 12 | 10A: speed control servo and switch | 10A: speed control servo and relay | 15A: fuel pump relay, shut-off switch, driver module, motor |
| 30 | 30A: body module door locks, liftgate glass release | 30A: same circuits as 2003 | 25A: air suspension module, 4×4 transfer case clutch |
| 33 | 20A: canister vent solenoid, HEGO sensors | 20A: same as 2003 | Not used |
| 34 | 20A: PCM, fuel injectors, idle air control, MAF sensor | 20A: adds fuel pump relay, shut-off switch and motor to the same fuse | 15A: PCM, fuel injectors, MAF sensor. Fuel pump dropped from this fuse |
Every other passenger panel position reads the same across all three years. So does every power distribution box position. The trap sits in exactly these eight fuses, not the whole chart.
Which fuse protects the fuel pump, and why does the answer change by year?

This is the number a generic chart for “2003 to 2006” cannot give you, because the circuit itself moved twice.
On your 2003 Expedition, the fuel pump relay is labeled R303 inside the passenger compartment panel. My source lists it by relay name, not tied to one of the 42 numbered fuses in the public breakdown.

By 2005, Ford gave the fuel pump its own dedicated fuse. Fuse 12 moved from 10A speed control duty to 15A. It now covers the fuel pump relay, shut-off switch, driver module and motor on its own. Fuse 34 dropped back to 15A, PCM and injectors only.
If your fuel pump will not prime on a 2003 truck, check relay R303 first. It sits in the passenger panel, not under a numbered fuse.

How do you tell if a fuse is actually blown?
A blown fuse shows a broken metal strip inside the clear plastic body. Pull the fuse and hold it up to a light to check.

A hairline break is easy to miss. Test continuity with a multimeter set to ohms if the strip looks intact. Near zero resistance means the fuse is good.
Never guess the replacement rating. Match the number on the old fuse against your box cover label. A higher rated fuse lets the wiring become the fuse instead, and that failure costs far more to fix.

A fuse that blows once is usually a one-off surge. One that blows again within days is telling you something is wrong upstream, not asking for a bigger fuse.
Unplug whatever you most recently added. A phone charger left in a power point is a common repeat offender. So is an aftermarket amplifier wired into the audio fuses.
Check for chafed insulation where the harness flexes, especially near the liftgate hinge and the driver door jamb.
If a fuse blows the instant you push it in, that circuit has a hard short. Stop replacing fuses and trace the wiring with a proper diagnostic tool instead of guessing. A plastic fuse puller keeps you from cracking the panel housing while you work through the circuit.
Does this chart apply to any other Expedition year?
Only 2003 through 2006. Ford built this body style, U222, for those four years only. The 2007 redesign brought a separate electrical architecture.
If you have a 2007 Expedition or newer, that is the next generation. It carries its own fuse box and its own numbering. See our 2007 Ford Expedition fuse box diagram for that truck.
If you have a 2000 or 2001 Expedition instead, that is the earlier first generation body style. It also carries its own separate layout. See our 2001 Ford Expedition fuse box diagram for that generation.
Within 2003 to 2006, use the year comparison table above. It is the only chart on this page that changes by model year.
