Ford Transit Paint Code Chart By Year: 2015-2026 Colors, & Location
The Ford Transit paint code chart below lists factory exterior paint codes for US-market Transit vans from 2015 through 2026. Find your model year first, then match its code to the factory color name. Before buying touch-up paint, confirm the code printed on your own van’s certification label.
Ford changed its Transit palette several times during this period. A 2015 Tuxedo Black van and a 2026 Agate Black van, for example, do not use the same paint code. The tables separate model years so you can check the correct finish without relying on appearance alone.

How to use the chart: If your 2022 Transit has N1 on its paint label, look up N1 in the color key below. If your 2026 van has FT, look up FT, not the blue color shown in an older brochure. A color’s availability can change even when the code itself does not.
The 2015 entries are cross-checked against the Sherwin-Williams 2015 Ford color guide and Ford’s published early Transit colors. The 2020 additions also appear in Ford’s 2020 Transit packaging guide. Later rows draw on the applicable Ford model-year order guides.
Ford Transit Paint Codes and Color Names
Use this key to translate the two-character code from the year chart into a factory color name. Color names reflect the published Transit designation; a supplier may use slightly different spelling or append “metallic” to the same named finish.
| Paint Code | Ford Transit Color Name |
|---|---|
| AW | Kapoor Red Metallic |
| BY | School Bus Yellow, fleet only |
| D1 | Stone Gray Metallic |
| DR | Avalanche Gray |
| E4 | Vermillion Red |
| FC | Wild Green Metallic, fleet only in 2026 |
| FK | Diffused Silver Metallic |
| FT | Blue Metallic |
| G1 | Shadow Black |
| G3 | Pueblo Gold Metallic |
| GN | White Gold Metallic |
| H5 | Caribou Metallic |
| J7 | Magnetic Metallic |
| KT | Lunar Sky Metallic |
| M7 | Carbonized Gray Metallic |
| ME | Abyss Gray Metallic |
| MT | Blue Mist |
| N1 | Blue Jeans Metallic |
| PQ | Race Red |
| UH | Tuxedo Black Metallic |
| UJ | Sterling Gray Metallic |
| UM | Agate Black Metallic |
| UX | Ingot Silver Metallic |
| W6 | Green Gem Metallic |
| YZ | Oxford White |
Some refinish catalogs list manufacturer cross-reference numbers alongside these short codes. Those longer numbers are useful to a paint supplier, but they should not replace the two-character code on your Transit label. For paint identification across other Ford models, see the Ford paint code chart and color list.
Which Ford Transit Paint Colors Changed for 2026
Ford lists eight exterior colors for the 2026 US Transit, compared with nine in 2025. The main difference is a new green fleet color and the removal of two grays.
- Added: Wild Green Metallic, code
FC, designated fleet only. - Removed: Avalanche Gray, code
DR, and Abyss Gray Metallic, codeME. - Continued: Oxford White
YZ, Race RedPQ, School Bus YellowBY, Agate Black MetallicUM, Ingot Silver MetallicUX, Carbonized Gray MetallicM7, and Blue MetallicFT.
The 2025 Ford Transit order guide lists DR and ME. Ford’s 2026 Transit order guide identifies both as deleted and adds FC. School Bus Yellow and Wild Green are identified as fleet-only options in the 2026 guide.
Do not use a 2025 color menu to choose paint for a 2026 van. A code can disappear from the new-order palette even though older Transits still need matching paint for repairs. The factory label is the next check.
Where to Find Transit Paint Codes in 4 Steps

The factory paint identifier is associated with the Safety Compliance Certification Label near the driver’s door. Ford’s Transit owner’s-manual instructions place that label at the door hinge pillar, the door-latch post, or the adjacent door edge. Exact sticker formatting can differ by model year.
Open the Driver Door
Open the driver’s door fully and inspect the body pillar and the edge of the door near the latch. Look for a manufacturer label with the VIN, certification information, and other vehicle data. Do not confuse it with a separate tire-pressure sticker.
Locate the Certification Label
Find the label carrying the manufacturer’s certification details. Check the lower area or coded-data section for an exterior paint field. If the label is dirty, clean it gently rather than scraping away printed text.
Read the Exterior Paint Field
On Ford certification-label examples, the exterior paint field is marked EXT PNT. Record the code exactly as shown. It may contain two letters, such as YZ, or a letter and number, such as M7. Do not read INT TR or AXLE as the paint code.
Match the Code to Your Year
Return to the model-year row, confirm the code is listed, and read the color name in the code key. For example, a 2026 Transit displaying YZ identifies Oxford White. If the code does not match the expected color, check whether the vehicle has been repainted or a door replaced.
For additional Ford label examples, see our guide to finding the Ford touch-up paint code on the certification label. That guide covers the broader Ford label system without repeating it here.
What to Do When Transit Paint Code Is Missing
A missing or unreadable label makes the model-year chart a useful starting point, but it does not identify your individual van’s original finish by itself.
First, check any saved window sticker, purchase documentation, or original fleet records for the factory exterior color. If those records are unavailable, give the VIN to a Ford dealer’s parts department and ask whether the original exterior paint information can be retrieved from vehicle records.
The VIN does not directly encode a two-character paint code. It identifies the van and may help an authorized department look up its build information. Our explanation of how Ford color-code verification works with a VIN covers that distinction.
If the van was repainted, its current paint may not match the factory record. A qualified automotive refinisher can measure the existing finish and identify a suitable repair formula. That matters especially after a replaced door, repaired quarter panel, or full commercial respray.
Which Ford Transit Models Need Different Color Charts
This chart covers the full-size US-market Ford Transit, including relevant Transit cargo, crew, passenger, cutaway, and chassis-cab configurations. It is not a universal chart for every model sold under the Transit name worldwide.
Transit Connect is a separate model. Its US paint offerings included colors and codes that do not match the full-size van’s lineup. For instance, Frozen White Z2 is documented for Transit Connect and should not be substituted for a full-size Transit marked Oxford White YZ.
Transit Custom and European-market Transit listings can also differ from US ordering documentation. Online paint catalogs sometimes merge global models and finishes, creating misleading matches. Identify the vehicle’s exact model, market, and year before comparing codes.
A special-order fleet paint finish may fall outside the regular color table. In those cases, request the original fleet or body-builder documentation rather than selecting the nearest standard color.
How to Order Matching Touch Up Paint for Transit
Use the verified code from your van’s label when ordering touch-up paint, not just a photograph of a similar-looking Transit.
- Record the year and code. Write down the exact model year, the two-character factory paint code, and the color name shown in the table.
- Confirm the supplier’s formula. Give the supplier the code and vehicle year. For a metallic finish, ask for the correct basecoat and clearcoat instructions or an appropriate complete touch-up kit.
- Check any previous repairs. If the panel was repainted, the original factory code may not describe the finish now on the vehicle.
- Test the match. Compare a sample in appropriate lighting before applying it to a prominent panel. Weathering, application technique, and metallic-flake orientation can alter the visible result.
- Choose the right repair method. A tiny stone chip may suit a touch-up pen or bottle. A large door or side panel may need professional color adjustment and blending to avoid a noticeable edge.
Oxford White example: If a full-size Transit label shows YZ, choose a product matched to YZ, not another Ford white code simply because the color name sounds similar. The dedicated Ford paint code YZ and Oxford White guide explains common cross-references and why white codes should not be interchanged.
For a work van, check the repair area in daylight before returning it to service. A matching code is the starting point for a good repair, but the finish and preparation determine how well the new paint blends.
What to Verify Before Painting Your Ford Transit
A Ford Transit paint code chart helps narrow down the original factory finish, but your model year and certification label should agree before any paint order is placed. Check the code on the van, match it to the year-specific lineup, and confirm the named finish with the supplier.
For 2026, use the updated palette that includes Wild Green FC and excludes the previous Avalanche Gray and Abyss Gray options. For older Transits, do not assume the current ordering colors were available in the year yours was made.
If your label is unreadable or the van has been repainted, use the original build records or a professional color match. Take a clear photo of the certification label before ordering paint.
Ford Transit Paint Code Questions by Model Year
Where Is the Paint Code on a Ford Transit Van
Look near the driver’s door on the manufacturer’s Safety Compliance Certification Label. Ford places the label on the door hinge pillar, door-latch post, or door edge, depending on the configuration. Find the exterior paint field, often marked EXT PNT, and copy its code exactly.
What Is the Paint Code for Ford Transit Oxford White
Oxford White is listed as YZ in the US Transit model-year guides covered here, including the 2026 lineup. Confirm that your actual certification label says YZ before ordering. Other Ford models can use different paint codes for a color also called Oxford White.
Can I Find My Ford Transit Paint Code Using the VIN
The VIN does not contain the paint code as a directly readable character sequence. A Ford parts department may be able to use your VIN to find original build information. If the van has received a non-factory repaint, physical color matching may still be needed.
Are Ford Transit Paint Codes the Same for Every Year
No. The 2015 Transit included Tuxedo Black UH, while later models offered Shadow Black G1 or Agate Black UM. Other colors were introduced or withdrawn during later model years, so check the specific year’s code list instead of treating all Transit colors as interchangeable.
What Colors Were Available on the 2026 Ford Transit
The published US 2026 Transit palette includes Oxford White YZ, Race Red PQ, School Bus Yellow BY, Agate Black Metallic UM, Ingot Silver Metallic UX, Carbonized Gray Metallic M7, Blue Metallic FT, and Wild Green Metallic FC. School Bus Yellow and Wild Green are fleet-only options.
